Meet Tim Longest

Tim Longest is a Fighter for All North Carolinians

Tim is an Eastern North Carolina native who made Raleigh home. As State Representative for House District 34 and a consumer protection lawyer, Tim has dedicated his life to public service and advocating for all North Carolinians.

An Eastern North Carolina native, Tim was born and raised in Greenville and Elizabeth City, where he attended public schools. Tim’s father was a career public school teacher, inspiring his passion for public education, while his mother works as a physician at a state hospital on the front lines of the opioid and fentanyl epidemics. Tim’s family instilled in him a deep commitment to public service.

Tim earned his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating, Tim came to Raleigh to work as a law clerk on the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court, having worked in the Attorney General’s Office and the State Senate during law school.

Today, as a consumer protection lawyer in private practice at a Raleigh law firm, Tim represents ordinary people and small businesses against predatory lenders, scammers, and powerful corporate interests.

Tim was elected to represent House District 34 as one of the youngest members of the General Assembly in 2022. Since he was first elected, Tim has fought for better pay and more resources for teachers and law enforcement, advocated for a government that works for ordinary people and against corruption, and stood up to special interests who seek to benefit themselves at the expense of everyday North Carolinians. Tim is a founding co-chair of the bipartisan Anti-Poverty Caucus.

Tim lives in Raleigh with his wife, Landen, a PhD candidate in environmental sociology at North Carolina State University and volunteer Guardian ad Litem for Wake County.
